Treehaus again: Fine & Raw 83% with nibs, Nibmor "Daily Dose" 72% mint + nibs

Treehaus continues to be my primary provider of chocolate bars, given its selection and proximity to my office.  On a recent trip I picked up a Fine & Raw 83% & nibs bar:

Leila recently reviewed the Blueberry bar and really liked it.  I had a similarly good experience with the 83% & nibs.  I tend not to prefer raw, but this was really excellent.  Also pretty:

I have reviewed NibMor twice before, to good and bad results.  The NibMor 72% & nibs was also really good:

It might not be the #1 mint bar around, but especially as a nice $1 bite, it really hits the spot for getting that chocolate & mint flavor without being overwhelmed.

Bottom Line: Two more successes with two brands we already liked.

Storm Rations B3: Nibmor 81% "Extreme"

I don't think I've ever had a company turn me around as quickly as Nibmor.  While the Crispy left a lot to be desired, the Extreme delivered.

We took one bite of this bad boy and just started yelling, "NOW THAT'S EXTREME."  Actually, I just lied to you.  Why would I do that?  I don't even know you.  Or worse, maybe I do.  I apologize.  We didn't yell, "EXTREME!" or anything like it, because we were too busy enjoying an amazing bar of chocolate.

81% is a really nice percentage for a bar to be.  It's not bitter, but it's not too sweet.  You can get a really deep, chocolatey taste without distraction.  And this bar is one of the more chocolatey 81% bars that I've had.  Adding nibs just puts it over the top.

Bottom Line:  This is what chocolate tastes like.

Storm Rations B2: Nibmor 65% "Crispy"

I am totally on board with the vegan thing.  Against suffering.  Check.  Me too.  Hate suffering.  But if you hate suffering so much, why do you deprive yourself of even raw sugar?

Crispy chocolate?  What could go wrong?

So yeah, this bar does that.  A lot of bars do now.  It's, like, popular.  Now, I can stand the raw thing.  Leila isn't as into it, but I'm fine with it.  Raw chocolate is different and interesting.  But there is a reason we have been using sugar for as long as human society has -- because it tastes amazing.  Nibmor sort of misses that piece of historical trivia with this bar.  So yeah, consider this my plea: stop with the agave.

The other place that Nibmor misses here is with the rice crispies.  There aren't enough of them, and they aren't crispy enough.  They almost taste soggy.  Even Hershey's knows how to do this right -- I can't imagine it's that hard.

I can't really complain about the quality chocolate used -- it's definitely good, and the taste is nice.  But it's hard even to appreciate that taste when 30% of the bar is agave nectar.

Bottom Line:  Every day and in every way, you can do better than this.
