John & Kira's "Urban Garden Mint" 62%

I bought this on a whim, walking through Philadelphia.

Ok, I had sort of heard of them before.  Maybe because I googled chocolatiers in Philadelphia.  Maybe.

Anyways, it is very aptly named.  It tastes like a garden.

Bottom Line: If you want your mint chocolate to taste like a garden, you should buy this bar.

Mi Lah in Philadelphia

Back when I was in Philadelphia, I stopped by Mi Lah for dinner.  It's a pan-asian, vegan restaurant.  Which does not sound that appealing.  But honestly, it was incredibly.  Even my dinnermate agreed.

After the meal, we went for the chocolate cake:

It was pretty good, but not nearly as good as the "Real Food."  It wasn't too dry, but the taste just didn't pop out.

Bottom Line: If you are a vegan in Philly, you should probably eat here all the time, and then you might as well get this cake while you are there.  But there is no need to go out of your way just for the cake.

Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes' Black Flag Cupcake

So I went to this in Philadelphia.  There were foodtrucks out back.  Hardcore Sweet Cupcakes had this vegan chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting:

It was actually excellent.  Vegan cakes usually have to choose between being dry and falling apart.  These guys made the right choice -- falling apart.  I was about two bites in before my full face was covered in chocolate.  If you've read this blog before, you know I didn't mind.

Bottom Line: Let's all cover our faces in chocolate.  The only thing that will be covered will be giant smiles.

Sweet as Fudge Candy Shoppe Raspberry Jell Rings

Based on their website, Sweet as Fudge Candy Shoppe seems like a place I would really enjoy. I have never been, because it is in Philadelphia and I am almost never in Philadelphia. But my co-worker went there on her birthday and brought back this container of raspberry jell rings to share with the office:

Obviously, I hated these. They are a tiny bit of chocolate surrounding a bunch of hard jelly. I hate hard jelly. Probably I should not have eaten them at all, except they were the only chocolate in my office, and it was extremely kind of my co-worker to share them with us, so I ate two of them.

Now I feel like I need to go to Philadelphia and seek out the Sweet as Fudge Candy Shoppe and give it its fair due. By buying something that is actually about chocolate. And not just about raspberry.

BOTTOM LINE: You definitely have to be a raspberry jelly fan to get any enjoyment out of these raspberry jells.
